The Commanding Officer of JS AKEBONO, Commander TOGAWA Hisato said, “Through the exercise, we improved our tactical capabilities and interoperability with the U.S. Navy. Also, we could demonstrate a strong will shared by the JMSDF and the U.S. Navy to create a rules-based free and open maritime order by working together in the South China Sea, which is one of our country’s important marine transportation routes. We will engage in our upcoming missions while maintaining a posture to respond swiftly to any contingency.”
