Visit to India by Vice Admiral KUNIMI

Vice Admiral KUNIMI, the Vice Chief of Staff, Maritime Self-Defense Force, attended the International Fleet Review hosted by the Indian Navy, and met with Vice Admiral Tarun Sobti, Deputy Chief of Naval Staff of the Indian Navy on the sidelines.
During the meeting, Vice Admiral KUNIMI expressed his sincere appreciation for the Indian’s Navy’s commitment as a first responder to a medical emergency onboard JS Yudachi.
The support included emergency evacuation by helicopter and subsequent medical treatment at the Indian Navy’s Kalyani Naval Hospital.
At the time, JS Yudachi was on its way to join the Indian Navy–hosted multilateral naval exercise MILAN 2026.
The Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force will continue to further strengthen cooperation with the Indian Navy and contribute to peace and stability in the region.
