ADM SAITO, Chief of Staff JMSDF made an official visit to Vietnam

Admiral SAITO, Chief of Staff, JMSDF visited Vietnam and met with General Cuong, Chief of the General Staff, Vietnam People’s Army, and Vice Admiral Nghiem, Commander-in-Chief, Vietnam People’s Navy. At the meetings, they shared views on regional situation in surrounding waters of both nations, and discussed future initiatives to further enhance cooperation between the JMSDF and the Vietnam People’s Navy. They also discussed “Multi-layered Defense Exchanges in Personnel, Equipment, and Operations”, and confirmed its future path forward. In this special year marking the 70th anniversary of its foundation, we wish to express our deep respects for the Vietnam’s People’s Navy, which has been committed to regional peace since its onset. The JMSDF will work even more closely with the Vietnam People’s Navy as an important partner to realize a Free and Open Indo-Pacific.
