On 19 August 2026, a delegation led by Major General Oliver Cutanda Maquiling, Commandant of the Philippine Command and General Staff College (PCGSC), visited the Joint Staff College (JJSC). This visit was conducted as part of the academic exchange between JJSC and PCGSC, and marked the fifth visit by a PCGSC delegation. In addition, students of the JJSC Joint Advanced Course have visited PCGSC four times as part of their overseas study trip program.

In May 2026, the leaders of Japan and the Philippines decided to elevate bilateral relations to a “Comprehensive and Strategic Partnership.” Against this backdrop, close cooperation between the two countries has become increasingly important. JJSC will further promote defense educational cooperation between the two institutions and contribute to deepening mutual understanding and enhancing cooperation between Japan and the Philippines.
