Joint Staff College (JSC) and CASD have signed on the Statement of Intent (SOI) to establish cooperative environment for the field of mutual interest in Rome, Italy on June 5th.

As for the relationship between JSC and CASD, VADM Ottaviani, President of CASD, was scheduled to visit JSC in last October, but his wish coming to JSC didn't meet with the schedule due to the change of Prime Minister of Italy.

On behalf of VADM Ottaviani, Ambassador Bregato, Diplomatic Advisor to the President of CASD visited to JSC and agreed to develop the cooperation between JSC and CASD. After that, we had coordinated for SOI draft led by Defense Attaché of Japan and Italy. In this February, VADM Futakawa, Commandant of JSC visited CASD during Joint Advanced Course's overseas field trip for JSC students and had a talk with VADM Ottaviani to confirm again of developing the cooperation to deepen interaction between both organizations and of forming it as SOI.

VADM Futakawa visited CASD again, integrating his schedule into this June's overseas field trip to sign on SOI. During several months, Commandant of JSC and President of CASD have established the strong relations of trust as “sworn brother of Japan and Italy”.

Based on this SOI, JSC and CASD promote information exchange regarding the education and research. In addition, we encourage mutual cooperation of student interaction.
