This year, eleven countries, the U.S., the U.K, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, the Neth-erlands, Italy, Poland, Philippines and Singapore, participated in the event. DM Nakatani observed the event and encouraged personnel.After the commanders jump, the demonstration was a series of scenarios establishing enhanced deterrence and response with allies and like-minded countries following 1st Airborne Brigade operation on island defense starting with freefall.Before the New Year Jump, the JGSDF 1st Airborne Brigade hosted International Airborne Commanders Conference with airborne troop commanders of eleven allies and like-minded countries at Camp Narashino on January 10. MG Wakamatsu, com-manding general, 1st Airborne Brigade chaired the conference and the participants discussed airborne operation and training.The JGSDF conducted the bilateral Field Training Exercise “VIGI-LANT ISLES 24” with British Army from January 15 to 26 at Hijyudai Maneuver Area in Oita Prefecture.
