Newly established 3rd Amphibious Rapid Deployment Regiment at Camp Takematsu, Nagasaki will play a central role for defending southwestern region of Japan. 7th Surface-to-Ship Missile Regiment, newly formed at Katsuren Sub-Camp, Okinawa was incorporated to 2nd Artillery Brigade which was reformed from Western Army Field Artillery Unit. 2nd Artillery Brigade at Camp Yufuin in Oita will continue to engage in missions on the front line of the defense.
