At 4:45pm, the Gover-nor of Ishikawa Prefecture issued a request to the commander of JGSDF 10th Division to dispatch personnel for disaster relief.The JSDF started aerial reconnais-sance and other necessary activities soon after the earthquake occurred. At 10:40am on January 2, the Joint Task Force comprised of the JGSDF, JMSDF, and JASDF was formed with the Commanding Gen-eral of the JGSDF Middle Army as its commander. Closely cooperat-ing with relevant ministries, agencies and affected local governments, the Joint Task Force has been engaging in life saving activities and providing living assistance to those affected by the disaster (transporta-tion of supplies, provision of food, water supply, bathing and medical assistance).
