3www.mod.go.jp/en/jdf/From August 25 to 30, the JASDF conducted overseas mobile deployment training of F-35A fighter aircraft to the U.S. and Australia. This exercise, the first overseas deploy-ment of the F-35A, was conducted to improve long-range navigation and air to air refueling capabilities, as well as to enhance interoperability with the U.S. Air Force and the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF).This is a milestone commemorating the first application of the Japan-Australia Recip-rocal Access Agreement (RAA) which came into effect on August 13. From August 23 to September 16, the JASDF conducted a bilateral training “Bushido Guardian 2023” with the RAAF, which was the first applica-tion of the RAA in Japan.
