This is the first field training exercise conducted in Japan with the Indian Army. Through the exercise, we enhanced anti-terrorism tactical skills and further strengthened our relationship and partnership. On March 1 and 2, the JASDF conducted a Japan-India bilateral transport aircraft exercise Shinyu-Maitri 23 and unit exchanges with the Indian Air Force at Komatsu Air Base for the first time in Japan. We will promote defense cooperation to uphold and reinforce a Free and Open Indo-Pacific and contribute to the regional peace and stability.From March 3 to 4, General Yamazaki, Chief of Staff, Joint Staff, participated in the Raisina Dialogue 2023, a multilateral forum co-organized by the Ministry of External Affairs of India and the Observer Research Foundation. General Yamazaki attended panel discussion with military service chiefs and representatives from U.S., India, UK, and Canada, and exchanged views on global security challenges that the international community faces. In addition, General Yamazaki held bilateral meetings with General Chauhan, Chief of Indian Defence Staff and other important figures.
