4DSEI Japan 2023.@X/NOn March 14, Defense Minister Hamada received a courtesy call from Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Havrylov. DM Hamada stated that JMOD/JSDF will continue to support Ukraine as much as possible, and Deputy Minister Havrylov expressed gratitude to this. On the same day, State Minister of Defense Ino had a meeting with Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Havrylov. SMOD Ino welcomed his first visit to Japan amid Russian aggression and stated that Japan continues to take resolute actions in solidarity with the international community.On March 18, Defense Minister Hamada held Japan-Germany Defense Ministerial Meet-ing with Federal Minister of Defence Pistorius. Minister Pistorius is the Federal Minister of Defence who visited Japan for the first time in 16 years. DM Hamada highly appraised Germany’s strong will to actively contribute to the peace and stability of Indo-Pacific region, which was exemplified by the deployment to the Indo-Pacific of the German Navy Frigate Bayern in 2021, and German Air Force Eurofighter in 2022.
