3www.mod.go.jp/en/jdf/DSEI Japan 2023On March 15, UK Defence Secretary Wallace visited JGSDF Camp Narashino with Parliamentary Vice-Minister of Defense Onoda and General Yoshida, Chief of Staff, JGSDF. They received command briefing and observed trainings conducted by the 1st Airborne Brigade. Cooperation between the JGSDF and the British Army has been accelerating, as shown by the bilateral field training exercise Vigilant Isles 22 conducted in Japan last November and British Army’s participation in New Year’s Jump this January. On the next day Defence Secretary Wallace visited Mitsubishi Heavy Industry Komaki South Plant with State Minister of Defense Ino and observed the developmental status of the next generation fighter aircraft there.On March 16, General Izutsu, Chief of Staff, JASDF met Air Chief Marshal Sir Wigston, Chief of Air Staff, Royal Air Force (RAF) and Lieutenant General Goretti, Chief of Staff, Italian Air Force (IAF). They agreed to promote defense equipment and technology cooperation including joint devel-opment of a next generation fighter aircraft. On March 16, General Izutsu and ACM Sir Wigston, RAF discussed their security issues and signed TOR regarding Japan-UK space cooperation. The JASDF will strengthen the bond with RAF on space cooperation for the stable use of the airspace on rules.On March 15, General Izutsu met with LTG Goretti, IAF. They reaffirmed that the two countries shared awareness of the security issues and agreed to bolster the defense cooperation and exchanges improving interoperability and joint develop-ment of the next generation fighter aircraft.On March 15, Admiral Sakai, Chief of Staff, JMSDF met with Admiral Credendino, Chief of the Italian Navy, who visited Japan to attend DSEI.
