2.@X/NAcquisition, Technology & Logistics Agency (ATLA) set a booth from March 15 to 17 at DSEI Japan 2023 which was the integrated defense event hosting more than 200 exhibitors from over 60 countries. The theme of ATLA’s booth was “Akatsuki”, inspired by the dawn of Japan’s defense. At the opening keynote conference, Defense Minister Hamada stated in the video message that “Japan will further promote defense equipment and technology cooperation with other countries”. On March 16, Defense Minister Hamada held a Trilateral Defense Ministerial Meeting with the UK Defence Secretary Wallace and Italian Defence Minister Crosetto. DM Hamada stressed that the impor-tance of the joint development of the next generation fighter aircraft, not only as a foundation for a wider trilateral cooperation, but also as a program which will signifi-cantly contribute to strengthen-ing the global security environ-ment. Japan, the UK, and Italy announced to develop the next generation fighter aircraft by 2035, in the Joint Leaders’ Statement last December. The three ministers affirmed their unity and strong determination to develop the cutting-edge combat air capabilities.On March 16, DM Hamada held a Ministerial meeting with the UK Defence Secretary Wallace. The two ministers welcomed the recent progress of the bilateral defense coop-eration such as the signing of the Reciprocal Access Agreement, and agreed to continue close coordination towards further deepened bilateral relationship.On March 16, DM Hamada also held a Ministerial meeting with the Italian Defense Minister Crosetto.
