4.@Q/NThe JSDF conducted Non-combatant Evacuation Operations Training in the Republic of Djibouti and Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan from December 3 to 18. This training aimed to improve the JSDF’s capability to protect Japanese nationals overseas and to strength-en cooperation with related organizations. In Djibouti, where the only overseas base of the JSDF is located the participants received logistic support and exchanged opinions on cooperation and coordination procedures with other nations’ military forces stationed there and some staff of Japan Embassy in Djibouti. On November 24, 14 members of the Eastern Army, JGSDF were dispatched to Djibouti to aid to enhance HA/DR response capabilities of Djibouti Armed Forces (DAF). For four weeks from December 3, they conducted training on engineering machine operation and mainte-nance. Through such activities discribed above, the JSDF will continue to promote mutual understanding and confidence buidling between Japan and Djibouti.The JSDF conducted functional training for the protection of Japanese nationals and others abroad from December 8 to 11 at training sites in the Hashemite King-dom of Jordan.
