5www.mod.go.jp/en/jdf/On November 18 and 19, the 56th JSDF Marching Festival was held in Tokyo. Music bands from the Ground, Maritime, and Air Self-Defense Forces presented a dynamic performance with our four guest bands: The U.S. Army Japan Band, the III Marine Expeditionary Force Band, the Pakistan Army Band, and the Papua New Guinea Defence Force (PNGDF) Military Band. The festival took place for the first time in three years and its success was an excellent opportu-nity to further promote our defense exchanges. Capacity Building Project in Papua New Guinea From August to September and from October to November this year, the JMOD/JSDF dispatched six personnel including members of the JGSDF Central Band to Papua New Guinea. They provided guidance on music performance techniques and marching drills to the PNGDF Military Band. This training program has been carried out since 2015 as one of our capacity building projects.
