4'@A/NThe JMSDF conducted a trilateral exercise with the U.S. Navy (USN) and the Royal Australian Navy (RAN) on November 19 and 20. They conducted tactical exercise including anti-air warfare exercise, anti-surface warfare exercise, and replenishment at sea in the waters south of Kanto to south of Shikoku. Through such exercises, JMOD/JSDF continues to deepen security and defense cooperation with the U.S. and Australia.The JGSDF, consisting mainly of Ground Component Command, Northern Army and Western Army, conducted Japan-U.S. Bilateral Command Post Exercise “Yama-Sakura 83 (YS-83)” from November 28 until December 13. Through this exercise, JMOD/JSDF enhanced Japan-U.S. bilateral deterrence and response capabilities and further strengthened the Japan-U.S. Alliance.Yama-Sakura 83 +%'Protection of Assets of USAF and ADF Vessels under Article 95-2 of JSDF LawDuring the exercise above, JS Setogiri protected the USN USS Ronald Reagan, USS Chancellors-ville, USS Milius and the RAN HMAS Stalwart under Article 95-2 of the JSDF Law after receiving request from the U.S. Armed Forces (USAF) and Australian Defence Force (ADF). It was the first asset protection conducted through cooperation among JSDF, USAF and ADF following the Trilater-al Defense Ministers Meeting Joint Vision Statement on June 11 this year.
