3www.mod.go.jp/en/jdf/The JGSDF Special Operations Group conducted a field training exercise with the Australian Army Special Operations Command in August 2022. Through this exercise, the JGSDF Special Operations Group developed their operational capabilities and contributed to further strengthening cooperation with Australia, a “Special Strate-gic Partnership” in the Indo-Pacific region.On October 1, Defense Minister Hamada had the 11th Trilateral Defense Ministers Meeting with the U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin III and Australian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Richard Marles in Hawaii. The Ministers have affirmed that the three countries would align their strategies to continue to closely work together and remain committed to the region in order to realize a Free and Open Indo-Pacific and maintain and strengthen the rule-based international order.
