2%DB/NFrom September 28 to 30, Lieutenant General Ingo Gerhartz, Chief of the German Air Force (GAF) and GAF aircraft visited Japan. On September 28, General Izutsu, Chief of Staff, JASDF rode the F-2 and rendezvoused midair with Lieutenant General Gerhartz, who flew Euro-Fighter by himself. They had formation flight and observed together the JASDF-GAF bilateral training which was conducted in Japan for the first time.On the next day, General Izutsu and Lieutenant General Gerhartz held a joint press conference at the MOD in which they exchanged view on the security environment and the importance of Japan-Germany defense cooperation and exchanges. Members of JASDF 7th Air Wing and GAF also conducted a mutual aircraft observation tour, exchanged opinions and GAF personnel flew on F-2 at Hyakuri Air Base.
