This military music festival has a long history in France, and this marked the 43rd iteration of this festival. It featured bands from Japan, Italy, and France. For three days, JASDF Central Band performed in parades and at the Olympic Hall in Albertville and enlivened the audience with their renditions of a range of pieces, from JASDF songs like “The Fighter in the Sky” and “March “Bright Sky” to the world-famous “Les Champs-Élysées”. When JSDF bands perform overseas, they receive as much acclaim as they do for performances in Japan, and it offers a valuable oppor-tunity to deepen friendships with countries around the world through music.
