JMSDF will strengthen cooperation with partner navies, and support a rules-based interna-tional order to realize a Free and Open Indo-Pacific.On June 25, JS Izumo and JS Takanami from IPD 22 unit conducted a bilateral exercise with the U.S. Navy USNS Henry J Kaiser. The strong relationship between Japan and U.S contributes to strengthening deterrence and response capabili-ties of Japan-U.S. alliance, thereby contributing to defense of Japan, peace and stability of the Indo-Pacific region.On June 27 to 28, Admiral Sakai, Chief of Staff, JMSDF visited Washington D.C. and held talks with Hon. Del Toro, Secretary of the U.S. Navy and Admiral Gilday, Chief of Naval Operations, U.S. Navy respectively. After that, he visited Admiral Aquilino, Commander, U.S. Indo-Pacific and Admiral Paparo, Commander, U.S. Pacific Fleet in Hawaii on June 30.
