24DO/NFrom June 21 to 22, Defense Minister Kishi visited Phnom Penh, Cambodia to attend the 7th ASEAN-Japan Defense Ministers’ Informal Meeting. This year’s meeting was held in-person for the first time in three years. Defense Minister Kishi delivered a speech under the theme of “Japan-ASEAN cooperation as we look forward to a post-COVID-19 era” and stated that Japan would strongly promote various initiatives under the Vientiane Vision 2.0. At the outset of the meeting, Minister Kishi stated that he was honored to visit Cambodia in year of the 30th anniversary of the UN Peace Keeping Operation (PKO) deployment to Cambodia by Japan Self-Defense Forces.
