Throughout the exercise, the JGSDF enhanced their count-er-guerrilla and commando capabilities while also improving the interoperability and cooperation between Japan, the United States and Australia. Through such an exercise in the large training environment in Australia, JGSDF enhanced its tactical skills and strengthened the robust bonds between three countries.On May 25, JASDF F-15 and USAF F-16 held a bilateral training in the Sea of Japan; this training showed unified commitment of Japan and the U.S. amid an increasingly severe security environment.On June 5 and 7, JS Harusame conducted a bilateral exercise with U.S. Navy USS Fitzgerald and USNS Tippecanoe in the South China Sea in order to strengthen the capability of Japan-U.S. Alliance for deterrence and effective response. Japan and the United States contribute to peace and stability in the region and maintain readiness to respond to any situation.On May 25, the Overseas Training Cruise 2022 JS Kashima and JS Shimakaze conducted a Japan-France bilateral exercise OGURI-VERNY 22-2 with the Marine Nationale FS Loire in the Arabian Sea. On May 31, the Cruise also conducted a goodwill exercise with Djibouti Navy DBNS Captain Elmi Robleh and DBNS Adjudant Ali M. Houmed. These exercises were carried out in order to strengthen coop-eration to realize a Free and Open Indo-Pacific.
