6+TK/NFrom April 24 to 30, General Yamazaki, Chief of Staff, Joint Staff, visited India and Cam-bodia. On April 27 in India, at Raisina Dialogue 2022, he attended panel discussion with military service chiefs and representatives from the United States, Australia, Indian and France and presented importance of robust progress of bilateral and multilateral coopera-tion to realize “Free and Open Indo-Pacific”. On the same day, General Yamazaki had a meeting with Admiral Aquilino, Commander, U.S. Indo-Pacific Command. They shared awareness of the harsh security environment in East Asia and agreed that the Self-Defense Forces and the U.S. Armed Forces would further cooperate to strengthen the Japan-U.S. alliance.From April 4 to 27, JASDF fighter aircraft F-2 and Royal Australian Air Force aerial refueling aircraft KC-30A conducted a compatibility verification test for aerial refueling, improving interoperability between Japan and Australia. In order to uphold and reinforce “Free and Open Indo Pacific”, JMOD/SDF will continue to elevate the bilateral defense cooperation with Australia to a new level through actively engaging in efforts such as the test and defense exchanges.In Cambodia, General Yamazaki met with General Vong Pisen, Commander-in-chief of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces and Lieutenant General Hun Manet, Commander of Royal Cambodian Army. They agreed to further strengthen their collaboration to achieve “Free and Open Indo-Pacific” and progress defense cooperation and exchange including PKO and HA/DR fields. On April 29, he made a courtesy call on Prime Minis-ter Hun Sen and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Tea Banh and shared awareness of further strengthening relations developed based on strategic partnership and confirmed both countries will work together to deepen ASEAN’s efforts.+%'Chief of Staff, Joint Staff’s visit to India and CambodiaJapan-Australia Cooperation
