3Defense Minister Kishi virtually attended Ukraine Defense Consulta-tive Group hosted by US Defense Secretary Austin on April 26 and made a speech on the support from JMOD and JSDF to Ukraine. On May 11, a JASDF C-2 aircraft departed Miho Air Base to Roma-nia to deliver humanitarian aid to the people of Ukraine. H.E. Mr. Dranga, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Romania to Japan, joined in sending off the C-2 aircraft. This was a part of Japan’s humanitarian aid, conducted through UNHCR, and JASDF C-2 delivered relief supplies which UNHCR had stockpiled in Dubai, UAE. JMOD/SDF will continue to work together with the interna-tional community to support the Ukrainian people. Mr. Dranga, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipo-tentiary of Romania to Japan. With last year marking the 100-year anniversary of bilateral relations, they concurred to further promote bilateral defense cooperation. They also exchanged their views regarding the Russian invasion of Ukraine, and they concurred on the importance of countries sharing common values of such as Japan and Romania to respond in solidarity against the situation that shakes the founda-tions of the international order.
