6.@Q/NFrom December 1 to 13, JASDF C-130H participated in a humanitarian assistance and disaster relief (HA/DR) exercise namely “Christmas Drop 2021” held by the U.S. Air Force. This exercise was based out of Andersen Air Force Base, Guam and the participants airdropped donated items includ-ing daily essentials to the Northern Mariana Islands, Republic of Palau, and Federated States of Micronesia. Through this exercise, JASDF improved its HA/DR capability and strength-ened coordination with participating countries. JASDF will continue to coordinate with Air Forces in the Indo Pacific and promote security coopera-tion in the region to maintain and strengthen a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific.”On December 13, JMSDF JS Yugiri conducted a bilateral exercise with German Navy FGS Bayern in the southern part of Okinawa. It marks the 4th exercise with FGS Bayern, which visited Japan for the first time in 20 years.
