5From December 4 to 17, JGSDF and the U.S. Marine Corps conducted the largest bilateral exercise ever in Japan “Resolute Dragon 21.” This exercise was designed to strengthen integrated capabilities between JGSDF Cross Domain Operations and the U.S. Marine Corps Expedi-tionary Advanced Base Operations, enhance the ability of Japan and the U.S to deter threats, and improve interoperability.On December 9, JASDF F-15 and F-2 and the U.S. Air Force B-52, F-35A, and KC-135 conducted bilateral formation and navigation training over the Sea of Japan. This training demonstrated the strength of the Japan-U.S. Alliance under the severe security environ-ment surrounding Japan. In addition, on January 11, JASDF F-35A, F-15, and F-2 and the U.S. Air Force B-1 conducted bilateral intercept, formation and navigation training over the Sea of Japan and the Pacific Ocean east of Misawa.
