Follow us !!The JMOD/JSDF, represented by the 43rd Infantry Regiment, JGSDF, conducted Japan-Philippines humanitarian assis-tance and disaster relief (HA/DR) Cooperation Project with the Philippine Army (PA) 525th Engineer Combat Battalion (525ECB), at the Mandirigtas Training Area. During the activity, JGSDF personnel conducted seminars about HA/DR equipment handling and provided practical equipment demonstrations. These training modules will enable such equipment to be efficiently and effectively used by 525ECB personnel during disaster responses. Additional-ly, Japan observed an HA/DR training exhibition by PA On November 25, “Australia-Japan Space and Cyber Symposium - Emerging Opportunities for Defence Industry” was held. Commissioner, ATLA, and Director of Strategic Planning Division, MOD, gave opening remarks and a presentation respectively. Japan and Australia are 'Special Strategic Partners' that share basic values and strategic interests. At the last Japan-Australia “2+2,” the two countries agreed to deepen cooperation in areas of space, cyberspace, science and technology. The symposium was a great occasion to deepen mutual understanding in such areas, as well as to explore opportunities to accelerate bilateral industrial collaboration. The symposium is expected to contribute in deepening Japan-Australia cooperation.counterparts, and exchanged knowledge and experience gained during respective past HA/DR operations. Japan and the Philippines are both natural disaster-prone countries.
