3On September 22, the U.K. Minister for Defence Procurement Jeremy Quin MP held a meeting with State Minister of Defense Nakayama. They candidly exchanged opin-ions on future defense equipment and technology cooperation between Japan and the U.K., and agreed to further advance bilat-eral cooperation. Defense Minister Kishi received a courtesy call from Minister Quin. They discus defense cooperation including a port call by CSG21, recent region-al developments and defense equipment and technology cooperation including F-X/FCAS. Japan and the U.K. are strategic partners that share fundamental values. His visit gave momentum to further enhance Japan-UK collaboration along with UK Defence Secretary Rt Hon Wallace’s visit in July and HMS Queen Elizabeth’s deployment in September. In the afternoon, Minister Quin visited the Air Systems Research Center in Tokyo with State Minister of Defense Nakayama. The U.K. Ministry of Defence and Japan’s Acquisition, Technology & Logistics Agency (ATLA) have conducted exchanges such as mutual visits and cooperative research. ATLA is now discussing with the U.K. on F-X/FCAS. Mr. Quin observed cutting-edge technology research on air systems and had a fruitful discussion on future bilateral cooperation.www.mod.go.jp/en/jdf/The U.K. Minister for Defence Procurement Jeremy Quin MP’s Visit to Japan
