5Visit the JDF website to see more photos and web-only articles. www.mod.go.jp/en/jdf/From May 11 to 17, Japan Ground Self-Defense Force (JGSDF) Amphibious Rapid Deployment Brigade and Western Army Aviation Group conducted “ARC21”, a multilateral exercise with French Army and USMC in Camp Ainoura, Kirishima Maneuver Area and the western waters and airspace of Kyusyu.　In this exercise, JGSDF and French Army simulated procedures which include the deployment of the army troops from military ships to the maneuver area by helicopter and military operations in urban terrain, enhancing the tactical From May 11 to 17, JMSDF conducted “ARC21”, multilateral exercise with the French, U.S. and Australian Navies in the East China Sea. The four countries simulated procedures such as landing training for remote islands defense and anti-submarine training with ships and aircraft.　Air defense exercise was also conducted in the ARC21, with the participation of JASDF F-2. Japan, France, the U.S. and Australia, sharing the “Free and Open Indo-Pacific” Vision, further enhanced cooperative relations and showed collabora-tion aiming at remote islands defense.skills for remote islands defense.　“ARC21” is the first exercise JGSDF conducted in Japan with French Army.
