End of International Disaster Relief Operations in New Zealand

1. In relation to the earthquake that occurred on November 13 (JPN Time), 2016, with New Zealand's South Island as its epicenter, the Japan Self-Defense Forces (SDF) has been conducting international disaster relief operations since November 15. Today, through consultations with the government of New Zealand, the Minister of Defense issued an SDF action order to end the international disaster relief operations.

2. Based on the above order, the SDF unit ends its activity today.

3. For international disaster relief operations in New Zealand, one P-1 patrol aircraft made three flights (for a total of 11 flying hours) with Auckland as its base in order to check the status of disaster damage.
