1. Announcements

None.

2. Questions and Answers

Question:
An MSDF submarine had a minor collision with a fishing boat during the latest three-day weekend. I would like to know how this accident was reported to you and also to the Japan Coast Guard, which is said to have received the report one hour after the collision.

Minister:
I have ordered a renewed investigation into this matter. We will release the results as soon as they are available.

Question:
How much time had passed since the collision, when this accident was reported to you?

Minister:
I don’t remember the exact times of the chain of events after the occurrence of the accident. I would like to let you know later.

Question:
Various media polls show declines in the approval rates for the Aso Cabinet. One poll has shown a level of 18%. How do you view these results?

Minister:
We have already seen harsh figures in the past as well. I believe we should take these results seriously. I think we should thoroughly do whatever we can to restore our credibility.
