Dispatch of Liaison Officials to the U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM)

In response to Ebola hemorrhagic fever, the Ministry of Defense and the Self-Defense Forces decided to have five MOD officials make an official trip to the headquarters of the U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM) in Germany including one SDF personnel who would station there to work as a liaison official, for the purpose of liaison and coordination that would be necessary to strengthen various cooperation between Japan and the U.S. and information-gathering on situation of other countries' operations including those of the U.S. forces. Another SDF liaison official has been dispatched to the AFRICOM.
The liaison officials are to mainly be engaged in collecting information on such as future U.S. operations and local situation in Africa, which would be necessary to deal with the Ebola epidemic in close cooperation with the U.S.
