P-1 conducted a Japan-India bilateral exercise.

Maritime patrol aircraft P-1 Fleet Air Wing 4 conducted Japan-India bilateral exercise with the Indian Navy’s patrol aircraft P-8I at sea and airspace in the south of Kanto to enhance tactical capabilities and interoperability between the JMSDF and the Indian Navy.
As a "Free and Open Indo-Pacific (FOIP)" that Japan is promoting and an "Indo-Pacific Ocean Initiative (IPOI)" that India is promoting have many essential common points, Japan and India have established a strategic global partnership by sharing common values and strategic interests. Based on these, the JMSDF and the Indian Navy are strengthening cooperation in a wide range of areas, including mutual visits by commanders, mutual port calls by naval vessels, maritime exercises through opportunities, and academic exchanges.
The Self Defense Fleet maintains readiness and contributes to the peace and stability of the Indo-Pacific region, not only for the defense of Japan but also for the realization of a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific” in cooperation with allied and like-minded navies.
