JS OUMI conducted a Japan- U.S. bilateral exercise (ILEX 24-2).

JS OUMI conducted Interchangeable Logistics Exercise 24-2 (ILEX 24-2) in the Sea of Japan with USS HOPPER, preceded by ILEX 24-1 which was conducted by JS HAMANA and USS HOPPER.
JS OUMI conducted the exercise to improve its tactical capabilities and the interoperability between the JMSDF and the U.S. Navy regarding replenishments at sea. The JMSDF and the U.S. Navy are conducting logistics operations more effectively and efficiently in support of frontline units under the strong alliance.
The Self Defense Fleet maintains readiness and contributes to the peace and stability of the Indo-Pacific region, not only for the defense of Japan but also for the realization of a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific” in cooperation with allied and like-minded navies.
