CINCSDF visited the Deployment Air Force for Counter Piracy Enforcement and Deployment Support Group for Counter Piracy Enforcement.

Commander in Chief, Self Defense Fleet, VADM SAITO Akira visited Deployment Air Force for Counter Piracy Enforcement and Deployment Support Group for Counter Piracy Enforcement based in Djibouti, and encouraged the deployed members.
VADM SAITO told them, “At the end of last year, the Cabinet approved the “Government's Initiatives for the Security of Japanese Nationals Abroad in the Middle East and Africa.” This decision has increased expectations for Deployment Forces for Counter Piracy Enforcement, as they have been assigned new missions in addition to the anti-piracy mission and intelligence gathering activities in the Middle East. The activities of each member of the forces under these circumstances have been highly appreciated not only in Japan but also in other countries around the world. I hope that each of you will continue to take pride and confidence in the roles and achievements you have made so far in your activities, and renew your sense of mission with the belief that your very existence embodies the national interest of Japan.”
After receiving reports on the current situation from the Commander of each Force, VADM SAITO heard from deployed JGSDF, JMSDF and JASDF members about their work environment, living conditions, and leisure time in a foreign country far from Japan, and promised further improvements in their work and living environment. In addition, he presented his Challenge Coins to the members whose activities were outstanding.
The Self Defense Fleet maintains readiness and contributes to the peace and stability of the Indo-Pacific region, not only for the defense of Japan but also for the realization of a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific” in cooperation with allied and like-minded navies.
