JS SAZANAMI participated in a multilateral exercise MILAN2024.

The 47th Deployment Surface Force for Counter Piracy Enforcement (DSPE) Unit, JS SAZANAMI participated in the sea phase of a multilateral exercise hosted by the Indian Navy (MILAN2024) in the vicinity of Visakhapatnam.
The Commanding Officer of JS SAZANAMI, Commander BAN Masayuki, said “Japan and India are in “Japan-India Special Strategic and Global Partnership.” Through this exercise, we improved our tactical capability and interoperability with the Indian Navy and deepen mutual understanding with the participating navies. Besides, at the harbor phase, we could deepen friendship with the Indian Navy thorough various exchange events including a sports event. We continue to engage in our anti-piracy mission while maintaining our readiness against any contingencies.”
The Self Defense Fleet maintains maximum readiness and contributes to peace and stability of the Indo-Pacific region, not only for the defense of Japan, but also to realize a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific” in cooperation with allied and like-minded navies.
