A courtesy call from the new Commander of the U.S. 7th Fleet

VADM SAITO Akira, Commander in chief the Self-Defense Fleet, received a courtesy call from VADM Fred Kacher, the new Commander of the U.S. 7th Fleet, at the Maritime Operations Center.
At the meeting, we confirmed the security environment in the Indo-Pacific region, including around Japan, agreed to continue and further strengthen efforts to increase interoperability between naval forces so that Japan and the U.S. can respond to various challenges with deterrence and response based on our alliance.
The Self-Defense Fleet maintains responsiveness, safeguards the peace and defense of Japan, continues to integrate with allied and like-minded navies and contributes to the stability in the Indo-Pacific region in order to realize a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific.”
