JS AKEBONO conducted a Japan-Oman bilateral exercise.

On January 5, the 46th Deployment Surface Force for Counter Piracy Enforcement (DSPE) unit, JS AKEBONO conducted a Japan-Oman bilateral exercise with Royal Navy of Oman’s corvette Al Mua’zzar in the Gulf of Oman.
The Commanding Officer of JS AKEBONO, Commander TOGAWA Hisato said, “Japan and Oman have been building our friendship traditionally since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1972. Also, the DSPE units visit ports of Oman for replenishment. We will continue to deepen mutual understanding and friendship with the Royal Navy of Oman through defense exchanges and goodwill exercises at sea during the port calls in Oman.”
The Self Defense Fleet maintains maximum readiness and contributes to peace and stability of the Indo-Pacific region by making full use of the flexibility and mobility that are characteristic of naval forces and by cooperating with allied and like-minded navies, not only for the defense of Japan, but also for the realization of a Free and Open Indo-Pacific.
