The Self Defense Fleet and the U.S. 7th Fleet exchanged Christmas / New Year presents.

The Self Defense Fleet received a Christmas wreath from the U.S. Navy 7th Fleet and we presented Kadomatsu, New Year’s decoration made of pine branches and bamboos. This present exchange during Christmas season is an annual event.
In addition, Commander in Chief of the Self Defense Fleet, Vice Admiral SAITO Akira recorded Holiday Messages with Commander, U.S. 7th Fleet, Vice Admiral Karl Thomas for the personnel of both JMSDF and USN including those who are engaging in their missions far away from their homeland.
Thus, the Self Defense Fleet and the U.S. Navy 7th Fleet promote friendship with mutual respect and importance, not only by conducting regular activities together for the defense of Japan and ensuring regional peace and stability, but also by sharing annual events of both the United States and Japan.
The members of the Self Defense Fleet wish all sailors of the 7th Fleet and their families, friends, and other loved ones a merry Cristmas.
