Commander in Chief of the Self Defense Fleet had a conversation with the Chief of Defense Staff of the Indian Armed Forces.

On December 12, Commander in Chief of the Self Defense Fleet, Vice Admiral SAITO Akira had a conversation with the Chief of Defense Staff of the Indian Armed Forces, General Anil Chauhan in Maritime Operation Center.
At the beginning, VADM SAITO expressed his appreciation to GEN Chauhan for visiting the Self Defense Fleet and for the Indian Navy’s generous supports for Japanese vessels visiting India. Moreover, through the conversation, he mentioned Japan upholds “Indo-Pacific Oceans’ Initiative: IPOI” as it shares many essential similarities with a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific: FOIP.” Both commanders also agreed to strengthen the “Japan-India Special Strategic and Global Partnership” for peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region through jointly addressing serious security challenges. The JMSDF and the Indian Navy will continue to promote defense cooperation and personnel exchanges at various levels of commander and staff through various exercises and port calls to further strengthen cooperation.
The Self-Defense Fleet maintains readiness and contribution to peace and stability of the Indo-Pacific region to realize a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific” in cooperation with allied and like-minded navies.
