Commander in Chief of the Self Defense Fleet had a conversation with the Commander of Naval Meteorology and Oceanography, the U.S. Navy.

On December 12, Commander in Chief of the Self Defense Fleet, Vice Admiral SAITO Akira had a conversation with Commander of Naval Meteorology and Oceanography, Rear Admiral Ron J. Piret, the U.S. Navy in Maritime Operation Center.
At the beginning, VADM SAITO expressed his appreciation to RADM Piret for visiting Maritime Operation Center. Through the conversation, he mentioned Naval Meteorology and Oceanography is one of foundations of operations, jointly conducted by the JMSDF and the U.S. Navy, and the Self Defense Fleet has placed much importance on them. He also stated he had great expectations for improving the interoperability in this area with the U.S. Navy. Both commanders agreed to continue strengthening and deepening knowledge and technology exchanges in this area, one of the information warfare.
The Self-Defense Fleet maintains readiness and strong deterrence based on the Japan-U.S. Alliance for the defense of Japan and contribution to peace and stability of the Indo-Pacific region to realize a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific” in cooperation with allied and like-minded navies.
