The 46th Deployment Surface Force Counter Piracy Enforcement (DSPE), JS AKEBONO conducted a JAPAN-U.S. PASSEX.

On November 25, the 46th Deployment Surface Force Counter Piracy Enforcement (DSPE), JS AKEBONO conducted a JAPAN-U.S. PASSEX with a guided missile destroyer USS MASON in the Gulf of Aden. Through the exercise, the unit improved its tactical anti-piracy capabilities and interoperability with the U.S. Navy.
The Commanding Officer of JS AKEBONO, Commander TOGAWA Hisato said, “The JMSDF and the U.S. Navy maintain ever stronger cooperation, contributing to maritime order retainment by cooperative activities in the Gulf of Aden. Our unit will do our best for ensuring safety navigation of sailing vessels in the area.”
The Self-Defense Fleet maintains readiness and contributes to peace and stability in cooperation with allied and like-minded navies.
