Commander in Chief of the Self Defense Fleet had a conversation with Chief of Naval Operations, U.S. Navy.

On November 23, Commander in Chief of the Self Defense Fleet, Vice Admiral SAITO Akira had a conversation with Chief of Naval Operations, U.S. Navy, Admiral Lisa Franchetti in Maritime Operation Center.
At the beginning of the conversation, VADM SAITO expressed his appreciation to her for choosing the Self Defense Fleet as her first visit to Japan after she assumed her post as Chief of Naval Operations. Through the conversation, they agreed to further improve interoperability between Japan and U.S. naval forces in various fields such as maritime operation and information warfare considering the necessity of the strong Japan-U.S. Alliance. They also agreed to further strengthen cooperation with allies and like-minded nations in the region and actively build multilateral security responsiveness under the situation of the Indo-Pacific region where attempts to unilaterally change the status quo by force still exist.
The Self-Defense Fleet maintains readiness and strong deterrence based on the Japan-U.S. Alliance for the defense of Japan and contribution to peace and stability of the Indo-Pacific region to realize a Free and Open Indo-Pacific in cooperation with allied and like-minded navies.
