US-2 conducted a Japan-U.S. bilateral exercise RESCUE FLAG OKINAWA.

From October 23 to 27, an amphibious rescue aircraft US-2 from Air Rescue Squadron 71 conducted a Japan-U.S. bilateral exercise RESCUE FLAG OKINAWA with the JASDF and the U.S. Air Force in the sea and airspace east of Yonaguni Island, east of Miyako Island, and south of Okinawa main island.
The Commanding Officer of Air Rescue Squadron 71, Commander NAKAHARA Shinji, who led the JMSDF side, said, “We conducted a joint exercise with the JASDF Air Rescue Wing Naha Detachment (U-125A, UH-60J), the U.S. Air Force 353rd Special Operations Wing and 33rd Rescue Squadron (MC-130J, HH-60G) to improve our capability of rescue at sea and strengthen cooperation with the JASDF and the U.S. Air Force. We also exchanged opinions about rescue operations and deepened mutual understanding and friendship.”
