JS MAYA conducted Japan-U.S. bilateral exercise with USS RONALD REAGAN.

From 22 to 25 August, JS MAYA conducted Japan-U.S. bilateral exercise with USS RONALD REAGAN in the sea and airspace from east of Okinawa to south of Kanto.
The Commanding Officer of JS MAYA, Captain MORI Michiaki said, “Through the exercise, we improved our tactical capabilities and interoperability with the U.S. Navy.
The JMSDF and the U.S. Navy work closely together in various sea areas to keep and enhance joint response capabilities to respond to any contingency.”
The Self-Defense Fleet maintains readiness and contributes to peace and stability of the Indo-Pacific region and the international community in cooperation with allied and like-minded navies, not only for the defense of Japan, but also for the realization of a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific” and a security environment that does not tolerate any unilateral attempts to change the status quo by force.
