The 1st Surface Unit of the Indo-Pacific Deployment 2023 (IPD23), JS SAMIDARE made a port call at Port Blair, Republic of India.

From 2 to 5 August, the 1st Surface Unit of the Indo-Pacific Deployment 2023 (IPD23), JS SAMIDARE made a port call at Port Blair, Republic of India.
The Commanding Officer of JS SAMIDARE, Commander OKUMURA Kenji paid a courtesy visit to Air Mshl Saju Balakrishnan AVSM, VM. The crew of JS SAMIDARE held various exchange programs such as sports exchange, Yoga lesson, and ship tours, and promoted friendship and mutual understanding between the JMSDF and the Indian Armed Forces.
CDR OKUMURA said, “The JMSDF will maintain and enhance good Japan-India relations and contribute to realizing a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific”with the Indian Navy as“Special Strategic Global Partnership.”
The Self Defense Fleet maintains readiness, puts all its efforts to defend Japan by enhancing the deterrence and response capabilities of the Japan-U.S. Alliance, and contributes to peace and stability of the Indo-Pacific region for the realization of a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific” in cooperation with allied and like-minded navies.
