From July 27 to 30, the 44th Deployment Surface Force Counter Piracy Enforcement (DSPE) unit, Escort Division 7, JS MAKINAMI made a port call at Manila, the Republic of the Philippines.
Commander of the Escort Division 7, Captain FUJII Kenichi and commanding officer of JS MAKINAMI, Commander NOSE Koji visited Ambassador of Japan to the Philippines, KOSHIKAWA Kazuhiko and the Chief of Naval Staff of the Philippine Navy, Rear Admiral Jose Ma. Ambrosio Ezpeleta to deepen mutual understanding and friendship.
The Self-Defense Fleet maintains readiness and contributes to peace and stability of the Indo-Pacific region and the international community in cooperation with allied and like-minded navies, not only for the defense of Japan, but also for the realization of a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific” and a security environment that does not tolerate any unilateral attempts to change the status quo by force.
