The 44th Deployment Surface Force Counter Piracy Enforcement (DSPE), JS MAKINAMI made a port call at Kochi, Republic of India.

From 11 to 13 July, the 44th Deployment Surface Force Counter Piracy Enforcement (DSPE) Unit, JS MAKINAMI made a port call at Kochi, Republic of India.
Commander of the Escort Division 7, CAPT FUJII Kenichi said, “Commodore Training, Headquarters Southern Naval Command, Indian Navy, Commodore Sritanu Guru visited JS MAKINAMI and we had a conversation. Commodore Sritanu Guru and I were classmates in the Command and Staff course of the JMSDF Command and Staff College. This was our first reunion in about 16 years, and we were able to renew old friendship.
Also, the unit invited officers and sailors of the Indian Navy to its ship and held exchange events such as a curry luncheon to deepen mutual understanding and friendship with them.”
The Self-Defense Fleet maintains readiness and contributes to peace and stability of the Indo-Pacific region, not only for the defense of Japan, but also for the realization of a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific” in cooperation with allied and like-minded navies.
