The Self Defense Fleet participated in Self-Defense Forces Joint Exercise for Rescue (05JXR).

During 26-30 June, the Self Defense Fleet participated in Self-Defense Forces Joint Exercise for Rescue (05JXR). The exercise was a rehearsal of the Self-Defense Forces’ disaster relief activities based on the assumption of Nankai Trough Earthquake. It is estimated that there is a 60% probability that a magnitude 8-9 class earthquake will occur in the next 20 years (Earthquake Research Committee, January 1, 2023), and preparation for this massive earthquake is an urgent issue.
Based on our firm determination to protect the lives and property of citizens, the Self Defense Fleet is committed to conducting various exercises and surveillance activities as well as to further strengthening the Japan-U.S. Alliance in order to respond promptly and appropriately to any situation including disaster response.
