The First Surface Unit of the Indo-Pacific Deployment 2023 (IPD23) JS SHIRANUI conducted a trilateral goodwill exercise with the Japan Coast Guard Mobile Cooperation Team, Australian maritime service advisers and Kiribati Police Service patrol vessel RKS TEANOAIⅡ.

24 June, the First Surface Unit of the Indo-Pacific Deployment 2023 (IPD23), JS SHIRANUI conducted a trilateral goodwill exercise with Kiribati Police Service patrol vessel RKS TEANOAIⅡ, which Japan Coast Guard Mobile Cooperation Team and Australian maritime service advisers were on board to provide technical support. Through the exercise, the unit improved its tactical capabilities and deepened mutual understanding.
The Commanding Officer of JS SHIRANUI, Commander MINAMI Kazuhiro said, “In the Republic of Kiribati, the Japan Coast Guard Mobile Cooperation Team and Australian maritime service advisers have been providing technical support related to maritime law enforcement to the Kiribati Police Service. We hope that these efforts will result in peaceful and stable use of the ocean in Kiribati and lead to peace and stability in the Pacific Rim.”
The Self-Defense Fleet maintains readiness and contributes to peace and stability of the Indo-Pacific region, not only for the defense of Japan but also for the realization of a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific” in cooperation with allied and like-minded navies.
